I spent the evening listening to a 3 CD, 1 DVD collection of Nirvana called With the Lights Out. It could more accurately have been called Nirvana Rarities, as it has numerous demos, acoustic versions, live versions, etc. Since it is at least 50 percent wretched stuff, I was deciding what I want on my iTunes, something I already did once before, prior to a crash.
Nirvana was generally a good--if highly uneven--band, but as I've said before, "Smells Like Teen Spirit" is definitely the best rock song of the last twenty years, and one of the best, most brilliant, and most exciting ever. And I don't even particularly like loud, hard rock....
To those who read my blog about my rotten day, the whole thing with the newly hired lady has turned out a bit better. I had given her the number of the teacher at EVMS who had so much enthusiasm, and fortunately, that enthusiasm is so infectious, she got the newly hired lady turned on, too.
I made some further contacts on Saturday over in Norfolk at the Day for People with Disabilities at the Zoo, where I was representing my organization, along with a couple of colleagues.

I had done so once before a few years ago, and was happy to see that the event had grown to be even bigger and better. They had a fantastic sort of DJ who had people in wheel chairs sort of race and then mostly people with Down's Syndrome dancing or doing karaoke, etc. Some of those performers were real characters, and there was a very nice vibe about the place.
Among the scheduled performers were the East Coast Cripplers (http://www.myspace.com/eastcoastcrippl
They use specially designed wheelchairs that enable a lot of contact. It is really a pretty cool spectator sport!
We saw one of my favorite plays, I Am My Own Wife, ate potato cakes at an Irish pub, and drove beneath a mesocyclone that was moments away from birthing a tornado. A radio meteorologist advised, "Abandon your vehicle, and lie in a ditch," but we paid no attention to his warnings and nevertheless arrived home safely.

I have landed a job as a deli clerk at a soon-to-open Davidson supermarket and am apprehensive to begin, as I am sure that at some point I will burn and sever my precious fingers.
I was going to write a Philly concert report, but I don't remember everything that happened, and I want my concert reports to be organized. I have interesting stuff to say, I promise! It's going to be a total tinhatter's review, but I need
shoemaster here to help meeeee.
I am so excited for
bandombigbang. I cheated and I know what people are writing because I was over at Allison's today and I just can't wait to read it alllllll.
In other news, we are apparently getting a cat. My roommates are crazy.
UC Scav Hunt has started! I feel bad for not doing much this year. Maybe I'll drop by the headquarters tomorrow to check it out and see if I can offer my services for anything.
Oh wait, I know, I'll make a list! ( About how MCR has taken over my brain. )

I'm hungry.
so far the only notable thing i have done is eat a lot of pretzel sticks dipped in nutella.
oh and i also figured out that these are a knockoff of these. i'm usually on the wrong financial end of imitation fashion, so it was pleasing to learn that i can be a wise consumer, too!!! whether i mean to or not. and i decided that i hate gladiators and i must have been high during the six seconds when i thought they can actually look okay on the right person.
i'm out of nutella bye

today i am $600 richer, so i paid my student loans for the month ($350) and registered for a silkscreen class at SVA ($285). i'm only $35 in the hole and i feel like an empowered consumer. thanks, government!

I FEEL LIKE I'M A ~MILKSHAKE~
Tonight I taught part two of my internet class. I finally got the 79 year-old guy his Yahoo email account. Something went wrong with the lady’s attempt, though. She must have hit the wrong button or something.
One part of this story that I didn’t go into last time was that a while ago, this male co-worker of mine had a task to do on a computer, and he turned to me to do it. It was a simple task, so when the lady in charge investigated a bit, she learned that this guy was lacking in some basic computer skills himself. So she had him sign up in my internet class, along with a number of other trainings.
I wasn’t crazy about this. I felt sorry for him and just generally uneasy about it. Well, he’s been doing well. His problem was not so much with the internet as with more general Windows skills. (Not the first I’ve seen like that.) Anyway, at the end of tonight’s class, I was watching what the 79 year-old did and I told him he should really sign up in my basic computer class. He immediately agreed. Not only that, the lady said she wanted to as well. Then she told me she had taken a class at another branch that was basic skills & basic computer combined, but she hadn’t gotten a lot out of it. She said they had gone through stuff too quickly and it went over her head. So I told them when and how to sign up for my other class.
Then, when the class was over, my co-worker said he was going to take it, too. He said he was taking a course in Microsoft Word that another co-worker was teaching, but that was going over his head.
So, despite the fact that this class has been rather glacial in progress, I felt validated in my teaching style, given that the three people who showed up for it all wanted to take my other course. And I felt especially good that my co-worker felt comfortable enough with my methods to actually sign up for more training than he’d been told to.
WHERE'S MY COOKIE AT?
You guys, I killed so many plants last night. :(
But I did see MCR five times on this tour. Ahahahaha, what. Oh, self.
Also, I am kind of angry at Gerard. I would be angry at Frank, but then he came at me with his stupid precious earnest face, and I couldn't resist. :\

Monday morning, I went over to Eastern Virginia Medical School for a class. The woman giving it was very enthusiastic, and I left in great spirits. It was a beautiful day.... Then, as I tried to get out of the parking garage, things started to go to hell. The woman who gave the class made a mistake about validating the parking, and I got into an argument over it.
Then I thought, well, I’m in Norfolk, I might as well drive over to the Chrysler Museum. Ah, but it’s closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Then I made a wrong turn and ended up going over the bridge to Portsmouth. I had to stop off at work to get something, and I went in all enthused about the class and made some suggestions to this new woman they hired to run a part of our organization. But I learned that her plans were quite different from where my head was at (or even from where I thought her head should be). This brought me way down. I didn’t think I could work with this person at all.
I went home and went for a long walk with the dog, then I went to bed, woke up at 7, had a bourbon, watched CBS comedies until 9:30, and then slept til about 11 a.m.
One might have thought that after all that sleep I’d have some energy or something, but not really.
Anyway, the EVMS classes will result in a certification that, no doubt, will be of no material use to me at all.
4 typed double-spaced pages away from being a senior. and hour 33 of being awake.
Lately I’ve been very sleepy. Not so much tired, as just sleepy. I’ve been inching along towards getting my vegetable garden planted. This year I’m being fairly ambitious, given the price of fresh produce. For one thing, I’m actually growing tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers from seed in paper egg cartons. My tomato seedling have come up and it occurred to me that this is probably the first time I’ve ever seen tomato seedlings. I’ve always bought them as little plants. Anyway, this way I will be able to stagger their growth. Too bad I’m getting off to a bit of a late start.
I went to buy some composted cow manure and discovered it’s hard to find! The bastards are marketing the stuff in fancy bags with fancy names and selling it for three times as much. (“Yes, but it’s really great shit, Mrs. Kresky!”) I don’t know why the cattle who are buying that high priced stuff don’t just go crap in their compost heap.
I finally found some at a good price and bought ten bags. And I started saving kitchen scraps for compost again, something I stopped doing in my mother’s later years....

Slap me.
I like some of the songs on Britney spear's album "black out." yeah yeah i know her album has been out for over a year.
I still dont think the bitch can sing and has little talent but the songs are kinda catchy.

My betta fish sebastion is sitting there under his cave staring at me. Probably thinking,"hey bitch when are u going to change my water?"
He has a staring problem today and its really creeping me out because his bowl is right on my desk.
I will clean it after work. Im writing this to remind myself.
