idk
It's finally spring.
I went downtown today and saw 21. I think I've finally taken enough classes about screenwriting and fiction-writing to understand something my teachers complain about--the inability to enjoy the medium of their choice after a point. I mean, watching this movie, I felt like I bitch. I kept thinking things like, "That is not at all what college is like, who is going to believe that? Shared Daddy issues is insufficient bonding material for guy/girl. The girl, in addition, could be developed better. Hey, this secret identity thing is sort of cool, why didn't they do more with it? Oh, the two Asians in the group get left behind during the chase scene, even though the book was written by an Asian and was about a group of Asians at MIT. Wow, this best friend/comic relief looks and acts a lot like Jack Black. Kevin Spacey isn't much of a villian, oh, but remember Se7en? Laurence Fishburne can't do a Boston accent."
I kept like, editing in my head. Catching things that worked and thinking about ways to augment them, and cutting cliches or stuff that wasn't funny. I neither enjoyed nor disliked this movie. It was just practice.
Kind of sad, really, but, in a way, I mean, it was worth going. I was engaged throughout, you know? Oh well.
I bought new bath gloves today. They are pink and I plan on exfoliating greatly with them.
