idk guys
Watching this, I can't help but get the feeling this might have been the worst idea in all of cinematic history:
Don't get me wrong, I love the Indiana Jones movies, but man, Harrison Ford is like 70 years old. Is anyone going to buy this? And the first ones kind of worked because they were a throwback to those adventure movies in the 30s and 40s, more a loving tribute than a satire, but is that going to work now? idk. Now, 25 or 30 years later, I can't see this as anything but a throwback to the original Indiana Jones movies, which, while awesome even by today's standards, are becoming awesome for a slightly different reason. You may think this is blasphemy, but they're a little kitschy. From this trailer, it doesn't look like Spielberg realizes that, this looks like it's still the same old thing. This could be very bad. Example: Cate Blanchett with a Nazi dominatrix wig? Really? And that title...ugh, that title. I mean, "The Last Crusade." Epic. "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull?"...
...but, for now, I remain optimistic. It's still Spielberg, who hasn't lost his touch (yet), and I mean, Shia's in it. That counts for something. I hope they got John Rhys-Davies again. I think he could save potential disaster.
